Do I need to take the lab to earn science credit?
If your first class at UNC Charlotte was Fall 2003 or later you will earn credit toward the Inquiry in the Sciences Goal. This goal requires students to take two Life and/or Physical sciences. One of which must include a Lab.
Enrolling in General Psychology without a lab will earn Non-Lab credit toward this goal.
Enrolling in General Psychology with a lab will earn Lab Science credit toward this goal.
The General Psychology lecture and Lab must be taken during the same term to earn Lab Science credit.
If your first class at UNC Charlotte was before Fall 2003 you will need to take the lecture and the lab together to earn credit toward Science (Goal IV) credit.
Enrolling in the General Psychology Lecture without the lab will earn you credit toward Goal VI: Understanding the Individual, Society, and Culture.

The lecture section of General Psychology I want to attend is closed, how can I enroll in that section?
Keep trying on Banner to see if a seat opens. Students often change their schedules and add/drop classes. You may find an open seat at any time.
Visit the instructor for the lecture section and request a permit to enroll in the closed section.
I took a General (Introductory) Psychology course at another school, do I need to take the lecture again to earn science credit?
The credit you earn will depend on the semester in which you enrolled.
If your first class at UNC Charlotte was Fall 2003 or later
No, you will receive Non-Lab Science credit for the course you transferred to UNC Charlotte.
If your first class at UNC Charlotte was before Fall 2003
In most cases you will not be eligible to earn science credit for General Psychology.
If General Psychology lecture and lab are REQUIRED by your declared major, contact the General Psychology Lab Director to determine your eligibility to enroll in the lab. DO NOT re-enroll in the lecture to obtain a seat in the lab, your registration for BOTH will be canceled.
I took the General Psychology lecture and lab at UNC Charlotte but failed the lecture, do I need to repeat the lab to earn science credit?
No, in these special circumstances you may enroll in a lecture section designated 'C'. When you have successfully completed the lecture you will earn lab science credit for General Psychology.
I took the General Psychology lecture at UNC Charlotte before Fall 1998 but didn't take a lab at that time, may I enroll in just the lab?
You should be eligible to enroll in a lab, but only with a permit.
DO NOT ENROLL IN THE LECTURE A SECOND TIME.
See the lab director for permission to take the lab without the lecture
I earned AP or IB credit while in high school and I now want to use General Psychology for my Lab Science: How can I do that?
Sorry, you will not be eligible to take the General Psychology Lab. Please see the Lab Director for further information. DO NOT enroll in General Psychology again, you have already earned credit for the lecture portion of the course. If you re-renroll in the Lecture and or Lab your enrollment will be canceled.
I think I am eligible to take the General Psychology Lab without enrolling in the General Psychology Lecture: How can I do this?
You will need to see the Lab Director for a permit to enroll in the lab.
Because of the limited seats in the lab you may be enrolled immediately or placed on the waiting list maintained in the Psychology Department.
Requests to be placed on the waiting list will only be accepted AFTER your registration appointment time. This restriction will preserve the registration sequence designs by the registrar.
How does the waiting list work?
Once you have been placed on the waiting list your request will be evlauated when seats become available.
The waiting list is prioritized as follows:
Senior Psychology Majors, Senior Psychology Minors, Other eligible Seniors
Junior Psychology Majors, Junior Psychogy Minors, Other eligible Juniors
Sophomore Psychology Majors, Sophomore Psychogy Minors
Freshmen Psychology Majors, Freshmen Psychogy Minors
Other eligible Sophomores, other eligible Freshmen
The waiting list does not carry over from semester to semester, if you do not get a seat you will need to make your request during the next registration period.
Students on the waiting list will be notified via NinerNet email about availability of seats in the lab.
NOTE: Check your email often during registraion periods, as available seats will be offered for only 3-4 days before being offered to the next student on the waiting list if we do not hear from you within the time limit.
